§ 2. The Attorney General of the State of Illinois is hereby directed to make such inquiry of the aforesaid subject matter as he deems desirable and advantageous to protect the interests of the People of the State of Illinois under said trust, and to bring such suit or suits as he may deem necessary to recover such lands, or to protect any such lands from illegal occupation or encroachments.
