Connecticut General Statutes Title 20. Professional and Occupational Licensing, Certification, Title Protection and Registration. Examining Boards § 20-185v. Phlebotomists. Definition. Certification

(a) As used in this section, “phlebotomist” means a person, acting on an order of a physician licensed pursuant to chapter 370,  1 physician assistant licensed pursuant to chapter 370, advanced practice registered nurse licensed pursuant to chapter 378  2 or podiatrist licensed pursuant to chapter 375,  3 who draws blood for diagnostic testing, transfusions, research or blood donations.

(b) A person who practices as a phlebotomist in the state may obtain certification as a phlebotomist from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians, National Center for Competency Testing, National Phlebotomy Association, National Healthcareer Association or American Medical Technologists.
