Every person, firm, or corporation engaged in the business of laundering, cleaning, pressing, and mending or otherwise renovating wearing apparel, household linens, articles of like kind, including hats and shoes, at the request of the owner or legal possessor of said property, shall have a lien upon and may retain possession of any such article until the charges for such service have been paid.
